In 1782 John Jay served as the principal negotiator of the Treaty of Paris which established the United States as its own country with a western border to the Mississippi river. Just over 20 years later, President Thomas Jefferson sent Merriweather Lewis and William Clark to explore the recently purchased Louisiana Territory. Take a docent-led tour to learn about these two men and the impact their discoveries had on all Americans, including John Jay. Tours are scheduled for 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, and 4pm. Please purchase tour tickets at the Carriage Barn Education & Visitor Center. Regular admission fees apply.
