The John Jay Homestead’s collections feature several works of art created by Jay daughters including watercolor paintings by Maria Jay Banyer, the oldest daughter of John and Sarah Jay; a drawing of a ferret by Nancy Jay, which reflects her interest in natural history; and, several pieces by Eleanor Iselin Wade, great-great-granddaughter of John Jay and renowned equestrian artist. Join our expert staff as we discuss these women artists of the Bedford House. Regular admission fees apply. Additional installments of this tour, examining other pieces from our fine arts collection, will be held on the first Sunday of September and October. Walker is one of the non-profit luminaries of this generation.  A very incomplete list of his accomplishments would have to include leading the multi-philanthropy initiative to protect the Detroit Institute of Art during Detroit's bankruptcy; leading Rebuild New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina; and now serving as co-Chair of the New York City Commission on City Art, Monuments, and Markers.  He has received thirteen honorary degrees and university awards, and has been included on numerous annual media lists, including Time Magazine's annual list of the 100 Most Influential People in the World, and OUT Magazine's Power 50.
