Yesterday’s Mystery Object was a pair of wool carders.
Made mostly of wood, the carders have little metal teeth poking out of them. Wool carders are used for cleaning the debris and dirt out of sheep’s wool. Once the wool is sheared from the sheep, you would take one carder in each hand. The wool is placed in between the two carders which are then brushed against each other. The wool is pulled between the teeth of the two carders and all the debris falls out. Then the wool is removed from the carders and prepared to make yarn.
