In 181, John Jay had Bedford House expanded to accommodate his ever-growing household. The second floor was necessary to provide space for William and Augusta’s young children. The Night Nursery was where the children would sleep. The Day Nursery was used for playtime and, before the school house was built in 1826, for their schooling. Like other second floor spaces, the Nursery will feature a period appropriate Brussels carpet and complimentary wallpaper (not shown.)
