John Jay Homestead is undertaking a thoughtful tree stewardship effort as part of ongoing historic and ecological restoration. Some trees—many long-loved—must be removed due to age, safety concerns, or to restore historically appropriate landscapes.
This work is being conducted with care and transparency, guided by New York State’s environmental review and historic preservation standards. Where possible, materials will be reused on site and new plantings introduced to strengthen both the historic landscape and ecological health of the property.
