Yesterday’s Mystery Object was a Ballot Box.
A ballot box is a way of collecting votes. During meeting, organizations would vote for their leaders. To make these votes anonymous, every member of the group would have 2 marble, one was white and the other was black. If they were voting in favor of something, they would drop a white marble into the hole. If they were voting against something, they would drop a black marble. The door would be slid down and the marbles would be counted out to see what the majority vote was.
