Our most popular Discovery Center is now available for private experiences!

Learn about what produce was grown here seasonally, try your hand at daily farm chores, look at historic photos of the farm, milk our mechanical cow, and ride our tractor. The building also has an interesting exhibit describing the history of farming on the property.

We offer two 90-minute exploration sessions every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, at 10am and 2pm. Each session is a private experience for your family group of up to 15 people. These experiences are free, but reservations are required.

Please leave your pets at home – only service animals are allowed in our buildings.

If COVID-19 related regulations change, and we are forced to cancel this event, you will be notified by email.

Family Nature Walk

     10:30 am – 11:30 am

Join guest educator Peter Cutul for this guided walk through the grounds of John Jay Homestead.  During the walk you will search for signs of natural life including plants, animals and their tracks, and discuss the ecological history of the site.  This relaxed walk is designed for families and will last approximately one hour. The program is free, but space is limited. Registration is encouraged. All children must be accompanied by an adult, and all adults must be accompanied by a child; please leave your pets at home.  This experience is rain or shine.

Barn Dance

This event has sold out! 

Join us for the 23rd Annual Barn Dance this Fall! Featuring pig races, music by local bands, delicious food, and a campfire, this festive fundraiser raises funds for all of Friends of John Jay Homestead’s educational work. 

*This event will be be planned in accordance with current health and safety guidelines. Please purchase your tickets early in the event that attendance must be capped.
