One of the things that distinguishes John Jay Homestead from the house museums of many of the Founding Fathers is the number of original objects on exhibit. More than fifty percent of all the objects and eighty-five percent of the art work on display in Bedford House were owned by the Jays. Join us on a tour that highlights some of these wonderful John Jay originals!

The Homestead’s expert staff offers a guided exploration of the fine art on display in John Jay’s historic Bedford home. The Jays collected art in many forms including family portraits, landscapes and genre scenes, sculpture, and prints by artists such as Gilbert Stuart, John Trumbull, John Singer Sargent, and Thomas Cole. This installment looks at art by Jay family members themselves.
