These rooms, interpreted as having belonged to a free Black man, and formerly enslaved women will provide accurately represented spaces in which we can share the stories of these traditionally underrepresented people. NYS Parks has made a commitment to reveal and share historically under told stories of ordinary and extraordinary people across New York State. By including enslaved and free Blacks, Indigenous peoples, White servants, tenant farmers, and women the site can tell a more complete and engaging history that improves relevance for its visitors.
