John Jay’s Dining Room, furnished with the Jay’s 1790s dining table, dining chairs, hunt board, and sideboard, is receiving new carpet and wallpaper during the restoration project. The wallpaper, custom designed by Adelphi Paper, was based upon document samples of paper found in the room during a 1960s restoration. The 1826 black marble mantel, purchased by Jay, is being reinstalled. Friends of John Jay Homestead are purchasing a striking girandole mirror for the niche with the sideboard, and a chandelier for above the table.
