Yesterday’s Mystery Object was a Jacobs Ladder Toy.
It is made of wood blocks, ribbon, and metal nails. The ribbon connects all of the blocks together. All of the blocks are folded into a stack, then you grab the block at the top. Another block appears to fall or cascade down to the bottom. This is an optical illusion. Not of the blocks go anywhere, they simply flip over.
