Be an Object Detective – can you guess what today’s Mystery Object is?

Here are some questions to answer about the object:

Looking at this object, can you guess what material it is made of?

Why do you think this object has so many holes?

This object has a handle on top. Do you think it was used to carry something? What do you think it would carry?

Yesterday’s Mystery Object was a Sundial.

This sundial is made out of metal. Sundials were used very early in human history. They are used to tell the time of day based on the position of the sun in the sky. The center piece of the dial, called a gnomon, casts a shadow when the sun is shining on it and points to the time which are indicated on the plate.
