Yesterday’s Mystery Object was a Betty Lamp.
This is a betty lamp and it is made of tin. The lamp is filled with oil and a string is put in the spout with one end of the string poking out of the spout itself and the rest of the string sitting in the lamp, soaking up the oil. The pieces attached to the betty lamp are used to pull the string through the spout as it starts to burn away.
