This 25-minute tour of John Jay’s Bedford House will give you a glimpse of the 1820s Parlor, Dining Room, and John Jay’s Bedroom. The rooms are adorned with many of the home’s original furnishings and John Jay Homestead’s collections treasures.

The number of tickets available for each tour is strictly limited. We strongly recommend you purchase your tickets in advance. This tour is offered Saturdays during our Farm Market at 100am, 10:30am, 11am, and 11:30am.

During twenty-seven years of service to his state and nation, John Jay looked forward to the day when he would retire with his wife and family to “the house on my farm in Westchester County…” He was finally able to move to the house in 1801. Visitors are invited to take a docent-led tour of John Jay’s Bedford House. The historic house’s interior has been restored to reflect its appearance during John Jay’s lifetime. Well over 50% of the furnishings are original to John Jay and his family.

The number of tickets available for each tour is strictly limited. We strongly recommend you purchase your tickets in advance. The Standard Tour of Bedford House is offered Wednesday through Sunday at 1pm, 3pm, and 4pm.

Thematic Tour—John Jay & His Huguenot Heritage

On August 24, 1517, thousands of French Huguenots were killed as part of the St. Bartholomew’s Day Massacre.  This event, and the continued persecutions of Jay’s ancestors led his grandfather to flee France and establish himself in America.  This tour will look at the Jay family’s Huguenot heritage and examine how its influence shaped John Jay’s beliefs.
