Be an Object Detective – can you guess what today’s Mystery Object is?

Here are some questions to answer about the object:

Looking at this object, can you guess what material it is made of?

Why do you think this object has a sharp point at the end?

What do you think this object was used for?

Do we use any objects like this today?

Yesterday’s Mystery Object was a Punched Tin Lantern.

Lanterns are used to provide candlelight light. They can be carried from place to place easily without the candlelight being blown out or the wax dripping onto the ground. Since tin was a relatively easy metal to come by, and to shape, lanterns were frequently made out of this material. Holes would be punched into the tin (since tin is a softer type of metal) so that the light could pass through.
